Desmund is ... well, he's brilliant. He has to be. But sometimes I just want kick him. Back to his manor, that is. I want to tell him that this research business is worthwhile, sure, but the daughter he says he loves is alone in some manor that's just about in the middle of nowhere, who your wife hates and mistreats at every opportunity, and who would love nothing more than for you to be home more than once in a while. I just hope I never get so absorbed in research that I forget that there are things that are at least just as important.
I feel like the only person in the world who thinks that of him. I probably am.

Today, I taught my three year old nieces and nephew draughts. At least, I tried to. They just had fun stacking the pieces on top of each other and giggling when the pile toppled over. Can't imagine the endless amusement they'll have with chess!
